Two quotes I like

Filed under: Quotes I like — Debbi @ 5:15 pm

No new work to post today, so again, here are two quotes for thought.

- Do what you like. It’ll probably turn out to be what you do best.
Wallace Stegner

- “No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.” Taoist Proverb

Have a nice weekend.

  1. Debbi,

OK. Instead of doing banana slugs and sea cucumbers, maybe you should try a banana and a pickle–perhaps resting on a twig or leaf, or maybe a birds nest with a pickle in it. I know it sounds surrealistic, but it is just a thought to help you to work through your phobias.

    Keep up the good work.

By the way, concerning butterflies, did I ever tell you that I once was an avid butterfly hunter with my oldest son. We built our own nets and bought butterfly fluid to immediately kill the little critters and relax them for mounting. The highlight of my collecting career is once when I swooped down on a bunch of butterflies resting on the mud beside a river in Colorado. I caught 3 different kinds of Swallowtails in one swoop of the net. After that I gave up butterfly collecting. OK, I know this doesn’t have much to do with art.

    Your fan,

    Mick

  2. Mick, I’m not entirely clear on the imagery of a pickle in a bird’s nest. Perhaps you can enlighten me? I know that magpies will collect all sorts of goodies and trash and store them in or near their nests, but pickles?!?

    Thanks for the suggestions,

    Debbi
