Hi Alex, Those colors in the interior spaces of the owl skull are the colors that appear in the depths of the skull. There are these kind of glowing spaces in there, I really didn’t make that up. You’ll see it in person and see what I mean! But I did accentuate all of the colors in the skulls to make them more interesting and, say, “artsy”!!
Now, what about that airplane drawing? Were Bernini and Marco supposed to be at the controls? Remind me.

Seriously, though, you captured the detail in those skulls exceptionally well . . . what are those orange and red colors in the one closest to the observer?

Thanks for checking in on this piece. I did really like working up the whites on this one, because I got to work from a base color instead of white paper, which is what I usually do. So there was more to do!

I’m with you on those work-continuity concerns. Fitting everything in at this time of year gets crazy, and any sense of momentum seems to drift away. We should all be sending out creative and productive vibes to each other!

Your finished piece is great. Don’t you love working on whitish subjects? All of those subtle colorations going on in the shadows are fantastic!
