Blog troubles, paper disappointments
I was going to write a post today with a wonderful photograph my friend Lynda Schumacher sent me. However, once again my blog image upload is acting up, and I can’t upload any photographs. So it will have to wait until it’s fixed.
I did start a new piece two days ago, something for the 75th Anniversary Exhibition of the Wellesley Society of Artists, which is the town I live and work in! I don’t usually do this type of thing, but they wanted a piece based on Wellesley, and I thought: “why not?”. I started the piece, a drawing of Rockridge Pond which is very near my house, in all of it’s autumn splendor; foliage at it’s peak and reflected stunningly in the water. I got out some Colourfix paper that I have wanted to try and started in on the drawing. I did not like working on that paper. Maybe someone who has worked with it has some advice for me? You cannot work up lighter colors on top of darks, as I have with Rtistx and pastel board. So it ended up looking muddy. And I was finding it very difficult to achieve any level of detail. Has anyone else found this to be the case? I gave the drawing two days, but it’s definitely not being worked on anymore.
I don’t know what I’m going to do for this show now. I walked around my neighborhood with my camera, but everything is so buried in snow and that’s not really the look I want to portray. I’ve been thinking about a subject all day, but haven’t come up with anything yet. We’ll see where this takes me! Stay warm and dry.
NOOOOO, I didn’t get a nap; only dozed for a few minutes and laid there wide awake the rest of the time. (can’t sleep at night, can’t sleep during the day………how long can this go on? lol.)…………so when I call tomorrow lets talk about the Colourfix.

I’m sorry about your blog woes.
I have zero knowledge of this paper. Sounds like it needs to be experimented on before committing to do a full work of art.
Debbi, everything is more beautiful when covered in snow. You might want to reconsider and do a snow scene.
Snow scenes are a fav of mine. I don’t know why I haven’t painted more of them…hmmm.

Lynda, I’d love to talk with you about Colourfix paper – tomorrow then!
Chantell, I figure that was an experiment (2 days and one piece of paper). I may reconsider the snow scene, I’ll have to drive around town tomorrow and see if anything catches my eye! I think I’m just “off” of snow and winter. I have shoveled so much of it this winter so far – I sore and sick of wet, heavy snow! Seems like my husband is always away when we get hit hard. . . . hmmmm about that. . .

Snow scenes are heavenly!
He he! Maybe your hubby is more acquainted with the upcoming weather than you think
He’s a sly one.
BTW, I think you attempted to leave a comment on my blog and all I see is your name …and no comment

Oops! Never mind! I see your comment. My bad.

Yes, he’s a sly one. He came home from a rare business trip for 2 hours yesterday (I mean c’mon, he’s a psychiatrist!) and is now off skiing with our youngest. Upside = I’m home alone and have lots of time to start a new drawing. Downside = if it snows. . . . yep, you guessed it, I shovel!

It’s that psychology mojo. He wears it like a superhero cape! See? I told you he’s a sly one.
Maybe you should leave all the snow for him to shovel? You can say something like you’re giving him the gift of exercise…haha!
You draw your big heart away, Debbi.

Can’t leave the snow, because then the mail person would be cursing us! Somehow it’s just worked out this was this winter.

Upside: You can steal Ian’s candy with impunity.
Downside: You can’t spy on Ian when he “isn’t aware that he’s being observed.”
Sounds about right

Hey Alex, you still going on about that!!! Do you mean regarding Ian being away? LOL – he doesn’t have any good candy left. Things are getting desperate around here.

(I think Alex has unresolved issues concerning the Halloween candy…………)

Thanks Gwen! I have officially abandoned that drawing, and when my blog gets fixed maybe I will upload a photo of it for everyone’s curiosity, if I am feeling brave enough to share a reject. I have something new coming along that I’m excited about, and will share that soon as well.
