Finished “Sunset over Traffic in Wellesley” piece
I finished this piece yesterday (actually I have a few places to tweak, like the interfaces between the car and the background). I’m really pleased with it. It’s like a little window into a moment in time, capturing the feeling of living in the town of Wellesley (and hopefully many other places as well!). There were many challenges to the drawing – the color changes in the sky, the trees in silhouette, the wet pavement reflections, the taillights on the SUV – all things I have never drawn before!

Debbi – I think you executed this wonderfully. I especially like the way you handled the taillights, the pavement, and the trees; all things you haven’t drawn before. Bravo to you!

Thanks so much Lynda! The photograph is a little grainy, so it’s actually darker and better than it looks here.

Debbi, you did a fantastic job.. A Challenge pushes us to new places, doesn’t it?.. I like that!!
Cool to see through the rear window to see the vehicle ahead..

Debbi, this is beautifully done. So wonderful blended too! I’m loving the colors in the foreground and how the car leads your eye into the scenic sky and snow. The shading and highlights are all placed perfectly. The sky is whimsically inviting. Well done!

Thanks Gwen, I too love how one can see through the car’s window to the vehicle ahead.
And Chantell you are so complimentary as always. I love when both of you drop in! Thanks.

Debbi, this is great! It brings me right back to all those hours I spent commuting between Gardner and Boston-600 miles a week for 18 years. Not that I miss the commute, but It’s amazing how the atmosphere you have achieved in this piece gave me a strong feeling of deja vu.

Wow, Gary, 600 miles a week is crazy. I’m glad this drawing could give you a safe sense of deja-vu; you would be certifiable if you missed that commute! See you at the meeting on Saturday.

Hi Debbi! Love this piece. You really get a sense of the cold winter season that is the setting of the piece. I love the colors and especially the license plate whimsy!

I don’t think so, unless you want to bake a cake! Ha ha, just kidding.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.

The more I look at it, the more details I notice. This is one really well thought out work of art.
