“Shhhhh” is complete, and CPSA show news!

Filed under: CPSA News, Competition News, Nature Still-life, News to Share — Debbi @ 1:47 pm

I am posting a photograph of the finished fish tank drawing “Shhhh”.  I may end up tweaking it a little, but basically it’s done.  It’s an unusual drawing for me, and it took longer than I had anticipated it taking.  I am eager to move on to something new!

I also have news to share, which is that my drawing, “Garden, Late Summer” was juried into the Colored Pencil Society of America’s 17th Annual International Exhibition, which will be taking place from July 9 – August 29, 2009 at the Hudgens Center for the Arts in Duluth, Georgia.  The show was juried by Graham C. Boettcher, who is the William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Alabama.  Approximately 125 works were selected for inclusion in the show.  In addition, I will be receiving my “Signature Status” by having had my work juried into three shows within ten years.  Also receiving her signature status will be fellow artist, Lynda Schumacher from Michigan.  More information about the show can be found by going to the CPSA web site, www.cpsa.org.

I am so happy to hear this!!

Do you have your next project planned?

  4. Hey Gwen, It’s so nice to hear from you – I’ve missed you! Thanks for the good wishes, and no, I do not have my next project planned. I wish I did. I had planned to really work on it, but somehow the water coming out of my kitchen ceiling took precedence! It’s stopped now, but you know how these things go.

  5. Congratulations, Debbi, on your acceptance into the CPSA show and for receiving your signature status. Such an accomplishment. Have we seen this artwork before?

  6. Hi and thanks, Kathy. By this artwork, do you mean the piece that was accepted into the CPSA show? It’s the one you mentioned you really like, of the three red sunflowers and the tufted titmouse. Or did you mean the fish tank piece? Sorry, but I’m confused and it doesn’t take much these days. . .

  7. Sorry to confuse you, Debbi! I meant the piece accepted into the CPSA Show. Now I know which one it is. I didn’t know the title. I love the fish tank piece, too!

  8. Oh, thanks for clarifying, Kathy. Do you really love the fish tank piece? I’m still in limbo about it. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t have it’s virtues. . . How is your dolphin/water piece coming along? You really need to start a blog one of these days so we can see what you’re working on.

  9. Thanks for asking, Debbi! Family life has been insanely busy the last few months, so the pencils have had a much too long rest. I fit a couple hours of work on the dolphin piece just yesterday. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

  10. Yes, Kathy, a slow and steady pace is just fine. You will get it done if you keep getting back to it. If I recall correctly, your daughter is a senior, and you all must be very busy with the end of year stuff that piles up senior year. Congrats to all of you!
