Your stones remind me of the gatherings from the Fundy shore...

Oh and yes I have glimpses flying through my mind all the time... and every time I say,"oh that is exactly what I want to do next" and it is so vivid, till I get the next idea and the last one fades... I have to start taking notes.. this memory is not as good as it used to be... Maybe we should hang an old slate round our neck, nah, that would be way too cumbersome.... need something tiny ...

Thanks Lynda. This piece is about - okay, I'm running up to my studio to measure it exactly - it's 7" x 12". I'm trying to keep these pieces on the Canson Mi-Tientes approximately 9 x 12. Regarding making ideas come to fruition, I know what you're talking about - playing around with a set-up. I don't think I'm explaining this as well as I can. I'll say more in my response to Holly. . . .

Holly - this piece vaguely reminds me of the old logo for ABC TV of the Peacock tail. Jewelry is interesting as well!

Interesting how ideas come to us - while running, eh? I'm doing much of what you mention, stumbling along with an initial idea until I come across something I'll go with. But for the first time, with these stones ideas, I have pretty strong images in my mind, but creating them is so difficult. I think I should play around with set-ups maybe once a week and maybe the increased frequency will lead to better results?

The contrast between the darkest darks and the interesting colors in the stones is phenomenal. The arrangement and color almost reminds me of jewelry.

I absolutely hear you on the problem of executing ideas for art. My best ideas usually come to me while I'm running, but once I start trying to set them up, it never quite works out how I imagined. However, I sometimes find that this process leads me to stumble upon something else (that may or may not be related to the original idea), and I just go with it.

Hi Debbi;
Once again -- nice, nice, NICE colors! What size is this piece?

Now you KNOW I do that, because you have been the victim of my repeated emails in the past laden with photos of still lifes...........which you have never seen appear in drawn form! I have no advice in this arena -- sometimes it seems as simple as I either 'feel' it, or I don't; I either hit on it, or I don't -- I wish I knew the formula! Maybe someone else who comments will say something very wise. : )
